Demand for Online English Language Teachers is Soaring

VIPKID ranked #3 in Forbes Top 100 Companies for Remote Jobs

Globalization has caused a surge in the demand for English language schools. Individuals and businesses around the world know that learning English has become a necessity in succeeding in the global economy. Consequently, the demand for English teachers has risen dramatically over the last few years.

Demand is particularly high in Asian countries. According to one Chinese official, more than 300 million Chinese are learning English.  In Japan (a nation of 127,000,000 people) has made English language instruction a required subject in primary education. In addition, millions of Japanese adults also take English classes each year.

In the past, Asian countries would hire native English speakers to come to their countries to teach English to children and adults in a traditional classroom setting. But, with the advent of the internet and, most recently, vastly improved wireless communications, all of that has changed.

Now, dozens of companies have capitalized on the online learning boom and have started online English teaching platforms.

One of the companies benefiting from that boom is VIPKID, a Beijing-based company that offers its proprietary curriculum online to students throughout China,

Founded in 2013, VIPKID’s mission is to provide the international elementary school experience to Chinese children—all from the comfort of their homes. VIPKID provides one-on-one, fully immersive lessons in its online classroom. VIPKID’s curriculum is proprietary and aligned to the U.S. Common Core State Standards.
The company has been featured on some of the top webistes including Forbes, Huffington Post, Wall Street Journal and Education Week.
